We got a doggie!

We just got the PERFECT dog!!!
Anna absolutely adores dogs. It was one of the 1st fancy words she learned. She squeals with delight whenever we see a picture of a dog. Justin has been asking for a dog since he was 3.
So...You can imagine my excitement when our nice bishop came to our car carrying Frank The Dog... Anna had met frank the day before at our ward 4th of July party and couldn't get enough of him (see pictures from the 4th post.) She hugged, pet and held him for half an hour! The bishop (see picture of him w/a wig on in 4th post too) noticed her excitement and just GAVE Frank to us! Anna has been a happy girl ever since. Justin told me the other day, "We have two pets now. Our dog Frank and fish Jojo."

Here are just some of the reasons I love him so:
(I'm sure there will be more to add to the list the more we get to know him)

He's huggable.
He doesn't shed.
He's house trained and has never lifted his leg on my furniture.
He doesn't bark...ever, so the neighbors love him.
He doesn't get on the furniture unless we put him there.
He has a small appetite.
He's patient.
He is wonderful with children.
He has great breath.
He sleeps in Anna's room when she is lonely.
He's always up to date on needed shots.
He lets Anna drag him around by the ear all day long without a complaint!

I have a bit of a confession to make. I'm sorry to say that it will be a very, very long time before Justin will be able to convince me to get a real dog. I kind of feel bad that I'm not quite up to a real dog. I just don't need one more living thing to clean up after...Do you blame me? Is a real dog worth it??? Plus, after having Frank around, I'm going to have unreasonably high expectations. At least my kids are young and easy to please.

That is my kind of dog! We tried the dog thing once and it only lasted 3 weeks. We did it as a trial-run for kids. Needless to say we waited another year after that to try and pop one out. I have decided since then that kids are way better than dogs.

That is so funny !!!! Dogs can be hard. My InLaws have a Plastic Yellow dog name Fang, that sits next to the TV, and they said that has been the best dog they have ever had. My Kids love him too. But I must say, my Dog is the Best !!!! He is a REAL Boxer and he gets along with the kids so well, he does poop alot outside, but we have never had any accidents in the house, when he was a puppy he was a bit harder to take care of, but now he is the cutest, gentle, loveing, and lazy dog ever.

It was good to see you at church this past Sunday. You seem very happy and your kids are cute. I don't blame you one bit for not wanting a dog! I have never been a pet person myself and never plan to be one. There so much work and they can't even be trained to use the toilet, no good at all!

I remember...

I remember how beautiful you looked on your wedding day. I also remember how you could nurse Justin so easily anytime, anywhere. I was so envious of that!

Good luck on the dog issue, Anna sure looks cute with her new little friend, though!!

So funny Julie! As I started reading, I was thinking... wow, she's brave... I would never want a dog!" And then you voiced all the same reasons I have for not giving my kids a pet. I'm such a mean mom. But your dog really is perfect and he's so dang cute! i could probably handle a 'stuffed' dog!

My kids have totally wanted a dog too. Our kitty is working out ever so great. She cleans herself, she doesn't eat a ton, she uses the litter box and she doesn't shed. Plus, she doesn't destroy things in the house while we are away or not looking. I really never thought I would be a great pet owner but I do like my kitty. I'm not trying to convince you of anything. It just seems to work for us. I totally understand about the dog thing! Basically, I understand about the pet thing. Don't feel bad.

What is it with our boys? Elijah has been demanding a dog for the last week! So which pet shop did you pick yours up at? Walmart?

That's the best pet ever! I hope my kids will be as easy to please.

I was thinking "oh, heaven help you" there for a minute.
You're right. And smart. It's the perfect dog!

Truly "the perfect dog." We tried the dog thing, it lasted 3 days. I couldn't handle it. I felt like I had another child. Th enext time we have a dog, I think it will be an outside one.

That is my kind of dog!!!! I am not a big fan of dogs either, my kids have begged, and begged. We tried it twice, but it just wasn't right for our family.

I'm glad I'm not the only mom who has no desire to have a dog. I know my kids would love it- but I just can't handle having one more living thing dependent on me.

On a different subject- I'd totally forgotten about riding with Amber Duvan- I remember thinking that she was crazy though and wondering if I was the only one who thought that.

That was a blast of a road trip in your little geo metro (green?).

I am not an animal person, so I have a love-hate relationship with Brien's dog, Jack. He's three now, so at least he's mellowed out. His breed doesn't live longer than 18 years, so sometimes I think, "Only 15 more years to go until I'm free of him."

Hey Julie! You have such cute kids! And totally good call on the dog thing. We finally gave in about 4 months ago (my oldest is almost 8 so it took a while), and I now have dog hair EVERYWHERE. It makes me absolutely insane. But, then again, I am a neat freak. Other than that, thought, she's a great dog! Good luck with your puppy!

What a perfect dog. We had dogs growing up and they were fun but I am not ready for one myself so this is the ideal for me too right now.

Hey there, I didn't have your e-mail, so I thought I'd respond to your question in comment form. I haven't been to a whole lot of beaches, but one that I've been to and like is La Jolla shores. It's a pretty little beach and very family friendly. Hope you enjoy your trip!

That's awesome! What a great bishop you have!!
We had dogs at one point... we loved them dearly, but they were a pain in so many ways...

I like the whole "no shedding" part. We love our Lucy, but, man, does she SHED! I have to vacuum, like, 50 times a day! At least she's never peed on the carpet.

Here's a couple of things to add to your reasons to love your dog: it will never reproduce, and it doesn't shed (you may have that one, but it is worth repeating at this time of year!) I wish I had been better about reading blogs lately, because I missed that you had a party! I would have loved to come! Happy Belated 30th Birthday! Love, Janelle

I'm all for this kind of pet. I'm not really an animal lover...is that horrible?

Speaking of dogs, Doodles was not a good boy yesterday. Tuesday night I bought a leather couch and lounge chair off of craigslist. The couch was only $100 since it had a 2 inch rip on the seat. Not a problem, since it was going to be a "tester couch." In less then 24 hours he managed to turn it into a hole the size of a dinner plate. I should have patched the tear the night we brought it home. It's a good thing Javier and Diego love our dog SO MUCH!!!!

Conrad's 1st word was kitty and then puppy. The obsession still continues. We will have a deep conversation about the universe or Jesus or cooking and then he brings it back to what is truly important with, "So are German Shepherds or Huskies your favorite dog?" (I personally like bulldogs, he likes the others.)

Although I love real dogs. I just can't add any more chaos to my life. I think Frank is just the perfect fit for our family too

Wow I am the 26th comment left on this blog. Do you feel super popular? Just kidding. Hey, my memory for you. I remember meeting you before the ward split and admiring how outgoing you were in relief society. So happy and friendly and approachable and thinking I would like to develop those qualities a bit better. I tend to be on the quieter side.
